On June 10, 2008 Ethel Cartwright a nail technician of eleven years at Salon Kendall was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. This is a very serious situation in that the cancer is diagnosed as stage three.
She will need much support (both financial and emotional) as she treads through the medical system without health insurance. As a nail technician at Salon Kendall she is self-employed and does not receive any type of benefits. Ethel does not receive time paid for sick or vacation, so all of her time off during kemo is unpaid.
Operation
" TAKE IT ALL OFF "
The Ultimate sacrifice for those that work at a HAIR salon is the total loss of their hair. In support of Ethel (starting chemo this week) we have put together a Head Shaving Fundraiser.
Jaime The Woodlands Salon Manager and Keri a massage therapist are engaged in a ticket selling contest. The one that sells the least amount of tickets will have their head shaved at Pappa's Ice House on August 31st, 2008. Jaime is selling red tickets and Keri is selling blue tickets. Please stop by Salon Kendall and buy a $5.00 ticket and then join them at Pappa's on August 31st, 2008 for food, fun, and watch the hair hit the floor. With the purchase of any color ticket receive the chance to win a "Rose Package" spa day at Salon Kendall.
Operation
"FUN RAISER"
On August 31st, 2008 with the support of local sponsors Salon Kendal will be sponsoring a FUN RAISER at PAPPA'S ICE HOUSE. A $10.00 ticket will help us help Ethel and you will get Food, Entertainment, a Silent Auction, and a chance to see THE HAIR FALL TO THE FLOOR.
On August 31, 2008 at 2pm we will be holding a fundraiser at Poppa's Ice House.
We, at Salon Kendall, have a colleague, Ethel Cartwright, who was just diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. Unfortunately, circumstances have not allowed Ethel to acquire medical insurance prior to her diagnosis.
There is a solution. We are holding a benefit on August 31, 2008, at Papa’s Ice House in order to raise funds to aid Ethel with her cancer treatment. This is where you come in. We are asking for monetary contributions and/or contributions of items for a silent auction. Your contribution could be a certificate for goods or services to be displayed and auctioned off the day of benefit.
Your monetary contribution or certificate/goods for the silent auction may be mailed to the address above, or someone from the salon can retrieve it by calling 281-419-9300. Your taxable donation form will either be mailed or delivered. Thank you for your support in our effort. We encourage local contributors to include an advertisement that we may be able to display the day of our benefit. Again, thank you for your time and consideration and hopefully, your donation.
Sincerely,
Friends and Colleagues of Ethel Cartwright
